Sue (Macs Girl) of The Nature of Things has asked us to post on Pastimes…
I used to have far more pastimes, and before CoronaVirus I did like to travel in my now limited way, even if it was not too far away. In our tricky times these days it is predominantly photography, some experimenting with cooking, some reading and listening to music.
I self-isolated 11 weeks ago, and early on I started a photo project called A Cup of Coffee and a Book, and some of you will have seen the posts…
Here’s one that didn’t make the cut..there was no cup of coffee in that test shot!!
And there were predominantly still-life images, including this one that my photo club liked:
After more than a month, I started to run out of ideas and now have a series entitled ‘What I saw’…. anything to keep the creativity going! Although isolating, I do allow myself a morning trip around some quiet local private roads, taking my camera and being very careful to distance if I do see anyone.
Pink and Red seem to have featured a certain amount as here:

I so enjoyed the cup of coffee and a book post. That was an inspired series, Sue. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.
Yes, it surprised me the extent to which I was inspired!
Excellent shots for the challenge, Sue! I agree with the photo club, that picture of the coffee mug and book is a winner! I love the lighting. You do see some pretty sights on your morning walks. The pink door is really eye-catching. Thank you for sharing your pastimes and for participating in the challenge.
Thanks, Sue! A friend alerted me to the routes I take on a morning, and I’m very grateful to him, as it livens me up for the day seeing the sights and getting the fresh air
Excellent post. Great insight and photos.
Many thanks, John!
And here I am, too late as usual. I finally got around to taking a picture of a book and a cup of coffee but my innate laziness prevented me from posting it. Never mind, it will come in handy some day for something else.
Oh, do post it!!
Your walking routes seem very interesting Sue, a great idea to start the day with
They are lovely
There may not be a cup of coffee in that first one, but I really like it 🙂
Have you had a chance to look at the Hays Festival line up yet?
Yep, some interesting talks, I’ve signed up for 3 so far
Fabulous 🙂
Thanks for the heads up!
Sue, you have really provided us with a beautiful lookup that shows relaxation and comfort. Love the image with the book … and the light.
Thanks, Vivi! I had fun creating those!
