This one in Orange, Provence. I saw this in the early ’80s, and was most impressed by the sheer scale of the thing:

Crikey that is big, the people really put it into perspective
Indeed!
and the size of the bell!!!!
Gargantuan!
That’s a fabulous word 🙂
Isn’t it just!
One I missed during my travels in France. Thanks for featuring it, Sue.
Best wishes, Pete.
Pleased to have shown you this, Pete!
Thanks, now I get to go back to Italy!
But this is Provence, Southern France…
I can’t even imagine walking around old ruins. The sense of history surely is overwhelming 😀
Indeed, it can be….
I enjoy all things Roman. During one of my visits to France, my s-i-l and I were exploring behind a chapel a family had erected along the road. Not far away was an old Roman bridge that was still used for animals and people to cross a small creek. What fun!
What fun!
It was.
I recall a similar small bridge somewhere in rural France
I imagine there are more than a few. The Romans were prodigious builders for which I’m grateful. 🙂
You and me both!
Ohhhh … Orange! Je me reviens. 😃 And to be on that stage …
Teehee! Yes, you would have fun, Elke!
😃
Wow, never having been to Italy, or Greece, or, well any place where you might see ruins like this, I haven’t had the pleasure of being dwarfed by an old Roman theatre. Very impressive indeed.
The one in Orange is amazing…and I have better images of the scale of the place somewhere. If I can find then I will post
