Lens-artist’s Photo Challenge #29: Cityscapes

We’re  asked to show Cityscapes, so I’m going to show a few images where it’s all about the light, adding to the impact and atmosphere of a place.

First up,  we  have a view of some of London in the evening, seen from Waterloo Bridge. Old and new in close proximity:

Evening scene, Waterloo Bridge

and now we have evening light in the City:

Here’s Matera in Southern Italy, a wonderful view as you descend to the city, and my friend and I had wonderful sunshine where we were standing picking out the contours of the buildings – but the clouds looked a bit ominous ahead!:

And here is part of Havana, seen from a hotel as the sun was receding, coming up to two decades ago:

  1. Wow, Sue. A lovely collection. My favorite is your shot of Matera–a place on my “must visit” list. Havana is on there too.

  2. The black and white’s a beauty, Sue, and that one of Matera is timeless. 🙂 🙂

  3. All wonderful Sue. That last shot with the sun falling is especially beautiful

Many thanks, Tina! The last one was taken with a 4MP Pentax point and shoot, my first digital camera the size of a matchbox – so sadly the image doesn’t stand up to close scrutiny! The other issue with that camera was the shutter lag….aaargh!

  4. Lovely gallery, Sue – and I know you know that – Matera is my favorite!

  5. I think the view East from Waterloo Bridge is one of the best in London. I lived there for 60 years, and never tired of it.
    Best wishes, Pete.

No. 3 is brilliant – the photo I always wished I took when I was in Europe. It reminds me of el Greco’s painting – View of Toledo.https://www.metmuseum.org/toah/works-of-art/29.100.6/

  7. A wonderful collection Sue, especially I love the last one.

  8. Maters wins for me, in fact I wouldn’t mind being there right now!

  9. Great, especially Matera. I’d love to visit it.
