One / 112; One / 113 and One / 114 One man and his donkey

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I tracked down some images from the Greek Islands featuring beasts of burden…. The man in the third image was seen in ‘One / 11’ (posted in 2014) at a slightly different place in the Samaria Gorge.  I recall seeing this man and his two donkeys, and we were just behind. I was determined to get an image or two, and ran on ahead, leaping across a stream over several stepping stones. I was quick on my feet, fit, and nimble in those days. Even so, what if I had fallen?

  1. i love these, sue –

  2. I remember seeing donkeys loaded like that when I was in Greece in the mid-seventies. Great memories. And now my mind is thinking of baklava dripping honey and souvlaki/gyros and yogurt with fresh figs. You devil, you!! 🙂

  3. Superb takes, all of them!

  4. Thanks for taking us with you on a journey through your agile adventurous youth and down Samaria Gorge, rather than memory lane. And what if you’d fallen: you didn’t!

Having walked in Spain with a donkey especially loved this post Sue – the last shot speaks volumes for these far from dumb creatures

  6. That last photo is great social history

  7. I really like these, especially as the donkeys seem to be well cared-for.
    Best wishes, Pete.

  8. Love the first one, and the image of you, leaping streams! 🙂 🙂

  9. I’m glad they’re not carrying people!
