Weekly Photo Challenge: Works of Art?

This week we have Works of Art for the Photo Challenge. I thought I would steer away from the beautiful, and post a couple of items that might be works of art to some eyes! Both cartoons/caricatures….

First up, seen on my travels at the East Side Gallery on the remains of the Berlin Wall over a decade ago:

But is it Art: Cartoon Brezhnev and Honecker

And a more recognisable cartoon figure in the shape of Homer Simpson on a Trabi in Bautzen, Eastern Germany again over a decade ago:

But are they Works of Art?

  1. Perfect for the theme, art or the subject for the art
    it needn’t be beautiful – very well captured, great idea… 😉 😉

  2. Suzanne

A fun take on the challenge. 🙂

  3. Not much you can do to achieve street cred with a Trabant but the Simpsons work for me 🙂
    Great Sue, especially the graffiti.

  4. Personally, I love the Simpsons car, however I think people do often go back and forth about what it art and what isn’t, it’s all pretty subjective if you ask me.

  5. Can’t say I am a Simpsons fan, but I love those murals on the Berlin Wall – what a wonderful recording of that time!

  6. LOL – they’re certainly memorable! Excellent choices 🙂

So creative! I remember that awful wall and the check points. I have not been doing the challenges, do you have the link from last week Sue?

    • Thanks, Kathryn! I’ve missed some of your posts as WordPress unFollowed me, I have just discovered, and had to reFollow…hopefully it’ll work now. BTW, I always put links to Challenges in my posts

  9. Oh, a cute old Trabant 🙂 Of course this is art – satire is an art.
