Weekly Photo Challenge: Let there be Light & Travel Theme: Sky

Another week when I am combining the WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge and the Travel Theme suggested by Ailsa at Where’s my Backpack. Life is a bit earnest and real at the moment, and time is short for blogging, so I had a trawl through the archive and came up with three images which I hope illustrate the combined themes.

First up, an image of the dawn sky, with sunlight reflected in the clouds:

Light my dawn

Light my dawn

Second, an image taken during the day, sun bursting out from behind the clouds (a version of my header image)

Finally, a night shot of a harvest moon

Enjoy!

  1. Fantastic shots Sue! Love the dramatic Harvest Moon in particular.

  2. Wonderful captures, I love them all and most of all the last one, harvest moon.
    Enjoy your weekend!
    Love, DIna

  3. I agree…the last one is very dramatic. 🙂

  4. Good choice of images for both challenges Sue. Like the others I love the harvest moon – a real source of light and such a dramatic image with the halo. Hope things calm down for you soon 🙂
    Jude xx

    • Thanks Jude! Two challenges in one is to make myself think more! Glad you liked my images, and I agree, that Harvest Moon was great, just wish I had used a longer lens, get more detail in the moon perhaps. Thanks for your thoughts, much appreciated XX

      • Well isn’t that what photography is all about? Strive to do better? Until you reach perfection? Although actually when do you know you have reached perfection? When I look at some of the shots that win competitions I have to wonder…

      • You and me both! 🙂

  5. Stunningly beautiful. Thank you for sharing your gift with us.

  7. Very dramatic Sue – neat idea to combine the two challenges – watch this space 🙂

    • Many thanks, Robin, I like trying to come up with images to kill 2 birds with one stone, as it were! Got to keep the grey matter going… 🙂

  8. Drama in the skies….lovely shots.

  10. Those are all great photos. Love them all, but especially the middle photo!

    • Thanks Gail, much appreciated. That middle image has sat unaltered on my computer since I took it a few years ago… Then I had a play with Color Efex, and that’s the image you see on this post. I hope subtle but effective! 🙂

  11. Fantastic photographs.

  13. All wonderful, but that second one is my favorite.

  14. Beautiful start to my Sunday, Sue 🙂 Useless to say slow down a bit at this time of year. We’ll all collapse in a heap on Boxing Day!
