That looks a wonderfully old photo, Sue.
1984
Perfect for the prompt!
Thanks, Elke!
Amazing heritage, almost part of the natural landscape now
Great choice, Sue. Those tin mines are a unique part of Cornwall’s heritage.
Best wishes, Pete.
They certainly are!
Now that is a real heritage photo!
Thanks, Mari!
Perfect!
Thank you!
A nice choice. But so many of your photos fit the bill!
Well, a number would
Perfect. Your photo has captured an important element of Cornwall’s heritage.
And vaguely connected I heard this week that Bude has the most amazing photographic record of its history since the 1850s due to a local family of photographers, the Thorns.
Glad I came up with the goods…a long time ago now
I remember visiting this a few years ago. Looks more like a castle than a mine to me!
Welll, they were very precariously placed on the rocks, those engine houses! And I remember trying to manoeuvre my way across from the nearest to the more distant one, but it Was such a skinny little path that I gave up, not wanting to fall into the waves crashing below!
We did go right down, but I didn’t venture quite as far as my more intrepid companion!
Don’t blame you!
And still one I haven’t visited. On the list though!
Oh, you have to see it, Jude! Here’s a post which shows the ruins higher above the two engine houses in this post, as well as one you know well (Wheal Coates)
Oh so well done Sue – One wonders how the workers got to the mines for work. Frightening really
It was a seriously hazardous occupation
That’s a fine view and image, Sue. I have seen many of the Cornish engine houses, but not those, as far as I remember.
They were in a stunning location, Robin
Great choice, Sue! This image is precious.
Thanks, Amy!
The old photo gives it a genuine heritage feel.
Yes, I think so
Perfect!
Ah, thank you!
🙂
wow – that s a great down view – and nice heritage take, Sue
Thanks! I was always fascinated by Cornish engine houses
🙂
