This week, Paula is asking us for Traces of the Past….anyone who follows this blog will know I have a fondness for the past, and abandonment and decay. Sadly, sometimes I can’t get to see stuff I would like to, before it has been ‘tidied up’.
This was a case in point- a somewhat tidied up Operating theatre in one of the forts of the ill-fated Maginot Line… luckily for me, not too tidied up, and when I played about in post processing, it revealed more than I thought in terms of texture etc – here we go for time travel back to the 1930s

See more Traces of the Past here.
Very Steampunk, which I love.
😀😀
Makes me imagine the horrors of being wounded, and lying on that table. (((Shiver)))
Great stuff, Sue.
Best wishes, Pete.
Not a pleasant prospect, Pete….but I don’t think this fort saw any action
Not somewhere I’d have like to be operated on Sue. I like what you’ve done with the photo!
Glad you like my efforts with this, Adrian! And I would certainly not want to be under the knife there…..
Oh Yikes!! The operating room of my worst nightmares! 😯
Time hasn’t done it any favours….😳
Really special and such a great picture.
Thank you, Lena! I didn’t think much to the original, but with the processing it works better….
Looks pretty ominous to me, Sue. Well done.
janet
Ominous was very much what I was aiming for, as well as a sense of something long past, so that’s good to hear!
Worked perfectly. I felt both.
Result!
OMG those stirrups take me back to the birth of my first-born! Fortunately the rest of the room was somewhat more clinical.
Goodness, I should hope so, Jude!
wow.
Glad you like, Gavin!
I find this photo dreadfully sad Sue!
Well, it’s hardly cheerful!
Not only texture but light too. You’ve processed it wonderfully.
Thanks, Meg! The light in the original was a tad bright, so it needed toning down to create the atmosphere.
Wow! You did a fantastic job with this one, Sue. 10 stars for originality, subject and the feel. Impressive!
Yippee! Many thanks, Paula….I wanted to do something different!
🙂 you don’t have to try, you already are 😀 Hugs
Hugs back! 😀

Such a sad time and how terrible to be operated on back then in those conditions.
Well, yes…
😦
Positively medieval in appearance – what horrors this room must have contained, it makes my blood run cold.
Actually, I doubt it was ever used…. But medieval it look after my processing!
Fabulous shot Sue! It looks like the ideal place for the start of a scary movie!
I guess it does….
