Over at Where’s My Backpack, the Travel theme for this week is beaches. Now I’m not really a beach person, or at least not in the usual sense…I like my beaches out of season, uncrowded. I can probably count the number of times in adulthood that I have sat on a beach, swam, sunbathed, read a book on the sand….on the fingers of one hand (oh, OK, two hands).
I love to hear the sound of the sea, watch the waves rolling or crashing in, smell the sea. But I just don’t do the summer sitting on the beach. So here we have sun, sea, sand, pebbles, rocks, cliffs, beach huts etc out of season. But still looking picturesque.
I haven’t travelled far for my beaches, 100 miles or so…to Lyme Regis in Dorset and Sidmouth in Devon, England. All taken in April or May.
Wonderful except the date. April/May arrrgh. I haven’t been to Sidmouth for years and now must return and Lyme Regis, never. The man and the life buoy a gift to your pic.
I guess Lyme is way too touristy in summer…that’s why I go earlier and early/late in the day!!!
Let me share a favorite beach with you http://seattletrekker.com/outdoor-seattle/kalaloch-beach.
With you all the way on uncrowded, off-season beaches! Lovely shots
Thanks Tina, appreciate your comment.
Wonderful and interesting shots – I especially like the one with the wave splashing, and the one of the Sidmouth light!
Many thanks!
