Some time ago, I was trying to find an image that I had taken on one of our car tours…. we were on the way to an Alpine pass, and we were waiting to enter a tunnel when we joined a small queue of cars which had stopped because it sounded like a traction engine was thundering through. Imagine our surprise when a cow bedecked with flowers emerged followed by her companions. She had obviously won the prize as the best producer of milk. I had thought it was when we were going to the Stelvio pass in September 2000.
Today I was sorting through some old photo albums, looking for images from the Auvergne. Instead, I found that winning cow in some images taken on the way to the St Gotthard in 1997:

Doesn’t she look marvellous with her flowers and her bell?
What a lovely lady! Well, 2 of them, I guess.
😊😊
She does indeed look fabulous!
It was quite a sight!
😎
😊
You’ve probably got a point there!
Wonderful!
Yay! Thanks, Jude, I can recall that moment, quarter of a century later. It was the noise of those hooves in the tunnel
A well loved cow, and her daily services to humanity beautifully honoured.
Indeed
She looks great, but not that happy about the way she is dressed up. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.
😄
A fine looking animal 🙂
She was!
I always like flowers and as a prize, even better 😀
Teehee!
She does look marvellous! I bet the other cows are jealous 😀
I wonder, do they notice?!
A serendipitous find. She does look marvellous.
In the foothills of the Swiss mountains
How fun. I have never had to stop for cows, just sheep. Many many sheep!
Oh, I’ve stopped for sheep and goats!
No goat stopping. Deer though.
Aaah
