I did get inside once, but no photographs….when I visited it was in a sorry state, but in more recent years has been restored to its former splendour with quartz, calcite and fluorite crystals on a manmade ’rock’ structure. Most impressive, I am told.

Always enjoy a good grotto
Yes, they can be fun
They are always such fascinating structures.
They certainly are!
meant to say how I love the reflection
Yes, it worked well on that day, with the sun at the right angle 😊😊
What a lovely shot, Sue! Really like this one.
Thanks, Jo, pleased you like it!
🤗💟
So lovely and tranquil.
Yes, isn’t it?
What a beautiful spot. And tantalising, knowing there’s a hidden grotto
Indeed! And apparently one of the finest in Europe. It was reopened in late 2013, so only a couple of years before I moved. I think we should plan a trip to Painshill……
Excellent capture of the reflection, Sue.
Best wishes, Pete.
A good day for it that, day!
I could have gone inside, but I dislike confined spaces.
Not particularly confined, I think
Underground though, makes me feel claustrophobic.
Fair enough!
Thinking of all your Painshill photos I realise how much I missed on my one trip there. You’ve done it proud.
Thank you, Mari! Much appreciated
Looks almost like a sea monster with the reflection. 😀 Your photo is actually spectacular 😀
Thank you, Cee!
Beautiful reflections!
Thanks!
