This is Bran Castle, often stated to be Dracula’s castle but it has only superficial associations with Vlad the Impaler (the claimed inspiration for Stoker’s creation). The castle dates from the 14th century.
Against a rich blue, almost cloudless sky, it makes a rather handsome sight with the backdrop of the foothills to the Carpathian mountains in the distance. It seems a lifetime since I was there…it’s actually only 14 years.

what a view, and what a castle
Indeed it is!
A lot can happen to us in 14 years. This is a wonderful photo Sue 😀
It was a magnificent sight in a great location!
Combine this with castle Frankenstein near Darmstadt … the right fare for October!
😄😄😂
It hasn’t changed. I visited in 2019.
Well, I wouldn’t imagine it would!
😉
😊
Wonderful against the blue sky.
Yes, it was a stunning daya
Great castle – love those tiles!
Yes, they are great!l
Beautiful!
It was quite a sight
Wonderful! I love the tower and the little windows. And the colours!
What’s not to love!
An impressive European castle indeed. I missed visiting Romania, but my cousin Ben lives with a girl (in Essex) who comes from Transylvania. She is very big on herbal remedies and natural foods, telling me that her family over there still live much the same way as she remembers from her childhood.
Best wishes, Pete.
I went in 2006, and it was like going back 200 years….
Ben’s partner actually relishes all those old tradititions. She tells us we have ‘forgotten nature’, and I think she has a very good point.
I would agree
