Still finding one or two forgotten prints, but sadly not finding some that I had hoped to track down.
Brain still works sometimes…I found this one and immediately thought ”Fort de Buoux”, no idea how I recalled that….But googled it, and I was right.
The site dates from prehistoric times. Situated in the Aiguebrun valley near Bonnieux in the Luberon in Provence, the fortress remains were built in the early middle ages on top of a Ligurian-Celtic oppidum – a fortified Iron Age settlement. The rock spur that the fortress stands on is a natural defence – this has been used over the ages by different peoples starting with Ligurians, Romans, Celts and on.
From the spur there is a great view up the Aigue valley. it felt very French, as the rock spur is pretty high, very overgrown and rocky, and no railings to protect you from socking great drops to the valley below.
I recall that when we were there there were climbers scaling what looked to me like impossible rocks….those images will be on slides, goodness knows where.
