Trawling through my archives, I found some more Sicily Gold. I am very poor at tagging my images, but believe this was the Palatine Chapel in the Norman Palace at Palermo:

An incredible place, heres a Wikipedia article : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cappella_Palatina
Linked to Life in Colour at Jude’s here
I’m glad I’m not the only one guilty of not tagging photos, I always mean to do it – later. You’re right, this is the glory that is the Palatine Chapel in Palermo. I have a similar image.
Ah, brilliant, thanks!
Beautiful decoration, and very nicely captured, Sue.
Best wishes, Pete.
Thanks, Pete
Wow – glowing up view
Yes!
Gosh, this is very golden! Such incredible decorations. Thanks for the link to the article, a fascinating building.
It was A-MA-ZING, Jude!
Extraordinary. Thanks for posting this, together with the article.
Extraordinary it was, Margaret
It looks like an incredible place. Great gold Sue. 😀 😀
It was amazing… Byzantine, Arab and Roman influences…
What beautiful gold, Sue. I am always impressed when I see places like this but also feel of mixed mind when I think of all the people who have lived in poverty because a few people wanted such wealth.
You do have a point, Pat
Fabulous, Sue!
Thanks, Jo! It was one amazing place
Wow, that’s glorious! We spent just a few hours in Palermo some years ago and didn’t see much other than the cathedral (from outside – it was closed) and a market. We keep meaning to go back and now I’ve seen this I’m even more keen to do so!
Well, I wasn’t there very long, but saw some of the best bits!!
Clearly! Do you get to Monreale? I found that cathedral stunning!
Yes…but I’ll have to look at my photos again….
