I don’t think I’ve ever seen snowdrops and bluebells together before. I mean, snowdrops (winter flowers) should all be well finished by now, then the bluebells arrive in spring.
But yesterday I saw both, together….

To See a World in a Grain of Sand...
They do go together well. 😀 😀
Yes, they do
Woww!! That’s so beautiful
😄😄
Extraordinary. Snowdrops have been over here for two months or so.
Well, most of them have here…so are these genetically engineered monsters??
Who knows? It’s very strange.
Yes it is…Jude thinks it’s because we had late frost
Ah, OK. Jude knows a thing or two.
Indeed she does!
Similar scenes can be found over on Hoe Rough today. Sleet one minute, 18 C the next. Small wonder the flowers are confused!
Best wishes, Pete.
So you still have snowdrops, Pete?
Yes though they are fading. It turned warm this afternoon. That might finsih them.
Maybe
I am not a specialist, by no means, but I don’t think these are snowdrops (Schneeglöckchen). We call these snowflakes (Märzenbecher).
They are what we call Snowdrops in Britain!
There are Snowflake flowers – Leucojum – which are taller than snowdrops, but they too usually appear in early spring. I can’t judge the height of these from your photo, but which ever snowy things they are, they are definitely late to flower! But you have had severe frosts your way most of April which must have had some impact.
Ah, Tgeriatrix thinks they are snowflakes…do they have the green bit on the petals as well?
Yes. Just like snowdrops. Only taller.
Ah, then that will be what these are, but surely still out of season?
We usually see them in March here, but given the cool April temps it’s possible they are still flowering.
Fair enough!
I looked for a post with “our snowdrops: https://wordpress.com/read/blogs/75285067/posts/16498
Do snowflakes have green markings on the petals as well?
Snowflakes(Märzenbecher) have green markings, snowdrops (Schneeglöckchen) haven’t.
But our snowdrops do, as you saw
So it is a different name. Do you have “our” snowdrops as well? And what do you call them?
Not a clue!
That is odd, although they are coming up with so many new plants nowadays it’s hard to keep up. I know our snowdrops were up in January (along with camellias and even a rather confused blooming rose) and the blue bells are just finished. They are quite beautiful together though.
Yes, I wonder if they have been selected to last longer?..
There are some daffodils that come up in January here. I thought it was global warming but I was told that they are designed to come up early. Drifts of daffodils in January are quite up-lifting to see so I can’t complain!
Oh, that’s interesting
Might be unusual, but they combine to look even lovelier than just one type alone.
Oh, I agree, Janet!
Lovely Sue 🙂
Thanks, Brian 😊
The flower apocalypse? 😉
Who knows!
But beautiful! 🙂 🙂
Oh yes, all in blue and white against a backdrop of green…
If I can add my not so expert comment…. I am sure they are Snowflakes… height, style and timing seems to be right 😄
I thought snowflakes were earlier?
I’m not at all qualified to comment on the discussion between snowflakes and snowdrops, but whatever they are they look very pretty with the bluebells.
Thanks, Anabel!
intriguing
That’s the word!
Beautiful
Thanks!!
