It is a European superstition to have a kitchen witch to ward off evil spirits from your kitchen. Some years ago, I decided I would have one, and here she is:

To See a World in a Grain of Sand...
This is the first I’ve heard of a kitchen witch but she’s an adorable one.
Warts and all!
well she is rather splendid isn’t she.
I haven’t got one so worried now about evil spirits!
Hum ho
And gave me a hidden Up….
😀 I saw that, I am pretty sure that is our first superstition
Mrs Competitive is happy!
😀
Evil spirits? They wouldn’t dare come in your kitchen, Sue! You’d chase them off with a broom 🙂 🙂 She looks happy!
😄😊😄
And great word, Sue! 🙂
And Becky tells me I’m probably the first to use it…..
🙂 🙂
😄
Which part of Europe, Sue? I’ve not come across this
I don’t know where I first heard about such things, but interestingly a friend of mine who was born in Arles exclaimed “oh, you’ve got a kitchen witch!” When she first came to my house. I would say it’s a rural tradition. Wikipedia has this to say: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kitchen_witch
Thanks for that. Our area was very into tradition and superstition, but never heard that one.
And has it worked, Sue?!
Who knows! 😄
My grandma had a kitchen witch. I’ve not seen many lately. I have a gargoyle guarding my kitchen.
Oh my goodness!
Oh goodness, I couldn’t have that in the house.
She was in my house, and now my apartment…
I saw one in a rented gite in France once, but I have not seen any in Enlgand before.
Best wishes, Pete.
😊
This was totally new to me, Sue! Interesting! And yours is the first kitchen wich I have ever seen. She looks nice, and I bet she loves hanging with you (!) Now, Norway…the current princess Märtha Louise believes in Angels and she has written a book about them. (Not a children’s book) She also has a shaman fiancee I know. So – my guess is the little kitchen wich originates from Norway.
Very possible, Wikipedia suggests Norway
;-D
I learned something new today. She should warn off the evil spirits 😀
😊
She looks like a very nice witch soI’m sure she does the trick!
😊😊😄
She’s a happy-looking witch, best kind. Although now that I think about it, maybe it depends on what makes her happy! 🙂

Yes, your second sentence could be worrying!
