Oh these are remarkable photos for Jude’s challenge 😀
Thank you, Cee!
I recognise the second two and love them with their strong contrasts. The first photo is also lovely, maybe not so contrasting, but a strong composition and great textures. Thanks for joining me Sue. I think your black and white photos are some of your best.
Many thanks, Jude! Since my film days, I have loved monochrome
, but I don’t do enough…..
Your love for it shows.
Okey doke, good to hear!
I’m too lazy to hunt out good images. I like the first one best, though it’s perhaps not the best example. I like storytelling images and you have lots, Sue 🙂 🙂
Thanks, Jo!
love your monochrome Sue- so atmospheric!
Many thanks, Hannah! Good to see you here – how are you?
hanging in there!!! 🙂
Good…that’s all we can do to
Monochrome master you…♥
Woohoo!!
♥
Your arch and tunnel photos are definitive examples of the challenge, Sue. None better.
Best wishes, Pete.
Thanks very much, Pete!
Iconic. Perfect photographs.
Many thanks, Sherry!
The light and strong shadows make the second 2 photos really pop
Thanks, Pauline….it’s only in more recent years that I have really understood how to make shadows work in monochrome for best effect!
These are perfect picture postcards!
Well, there’s a thought!
😉
😊😊
Maybe because I grew up watching black and white movies and television, I find it very easy to create narratives when I see black and white photos. Each of these gave me good opportunity to imagine a story.
Yes, perhaps we focus more on the event when there are no colours to distract…. On the B&Wtheme, I watched a programme about the film maker Fritz Lang….have always intended to watch Metropolis, and after this documentary, I have found that I can watch it via the British Film Industry’s streaming service, so will watch it soon
I recently watched “The Third Man” in black and white and found it more suspenseful than some recent thrillers.
I have long been of the view that many of the old films have more to them…..
I think movies were closer to the intensity of theater years ago.
Yes, perhaps
wonderful, specially the last two for the challenge
Thanks, Becky….I like a sharp shadow!
These are lovely, I really like this Sue!
Thank you, Ritva….I do like monochrome, and the more contrasty light, the better!
Absolutely
😊😊
