Ten years ago when we visited the Cathar castles I used all the strength I had to drag myself up to one of the castles (Quertinheux) at Lastours because I wanted to see the views from across there to two of the other castles (Tour Régine and Cabaret)….it was well worth the effort, but I was sad that I couldn’t manage more….and that it was such a dull day.

View out from the Quertinheux ramparts (to Tour Régine, and furthest away, Cabaret

Such great memories of Cathar country. Thanks so much.
I had you in mind when I posted this, Margaret
Thanks. I guessed you might.
Indeed…and I might dig out more
Yes please! Mine are on a back up drive somewhere and I haven’t got the energy to look them up.
OK, plenty on Lastours in this post… https://suejudd.com/2019/01/31/i-remember-it-as-if-it-were-yesterday-9/
one day I shall dig out some other castles, an abbey or two and a Circulade or two…if I get the energy!
But what a beautiful photograph! I bet you took a few that day 🙂 🙂
I did, and a few have appeared on this blog in the past
That is such a beautiful image, Sue!
Many thanks, Amy! For me, a slog to get there, but we’ll worth it!
Love looking through old stone structures to the view
Thanks, Brian, I do!
I do like that region, but the castles are indeed situated very high up. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.
Indeed they are
Don’t fret about it being such a dull photograph, Sue. It looks absolutely lovely and the lack of sunshine makes it more romantic I think. You did well to brave those steps up to the castle. I can’t do it any more but I managed some years ago but I dropped my camera on the trip so got not pix. Yours are a lovely reminder of an area I’m very fond of.
Oh, steps, steep narrow tracks an winding too…shame about your camera
thank you so much for getting yourself up to this point, what a fabulous perspective
Oh, it was wonderful!
That must have been quite a climb, Sue. Well worth it though. Beautiful photo. 😍
It was a bit of a slog for this less than fit person
Wow! To the click and the climb Sue. Thanks for the share .
