Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #103 – Surprise

Having a think about past surprises….

Over a decade ago, coming across a little bit of ancient Libya in Virginia Water which I posted the other day, but just have to show one image again here:

In 2006, on a journey to Romania, I was entranced by the nightly ritual of the cows and goats coming home from the fields into the village, and to their owners’ properties

Cows coming home in the evening

Another travel surprise was Lanzarote, a place I would never have countenanced in my fitter days. But some friends of mine persuaded me to travel with them, and I have to say I was quite surprised….it was better than I expected!

  1. I like the idea of the cows coming ‘home’ to an actual house! 🙂
    Best wishes, Pete.

  2. Lovely surprises, Sue. I especially like the reflection.

  3. Amy

Thank you, Sue for sharing your travel experience. 🙂 Great photo captures!

  4. Love that photo featuring the cows!

  5. Love the countryside where the cattle walks home again – and you caught them nicely. And Lanzarote! A surprise I understand. A short visit in 1992 and I don’t remember much of it. Windy though.

    • Sue

Yes, I was fascinated by the homing instincts of those cows! And Lanzarote had some interesting areas, we stayed in the middle of the island in a villa, well away from the more touristy beaches! I was impressed by nothing over 2 stories high.

  6. Wonderful surprises Sue. Loved the animals heading home!
