Lens-artist’s Photo Challenge #49: Favourite Things

These are just a few of my favourite things

To start and end the day black coffee (a lungo or bigger in the morning at breakfast, and a double espresso after my evening meal). And I do love a nice bone China cup!

Something that I have always loved to do is to get exploring new places….and it doesn’t have to be a long way away necessarily. Sometimes there are some great places nearby, or only a short drive or train ride away. And plenty of fun to be had with the camera….. in recent years I have enjoyed wandering around Shoreditch and the area around Borough Market.

I have loved to explore ruins, dereliction and abandonment since I was very young, and the pull of such places is still there. This was one of the earliest places I saw, in 1972:

…and here’s one I saw a bit less than a decade ago in Basilicata, Italy:

Sightless windows, Craco

Street photography is something I only got interested in during the last 7 or 8 years, but I remembered this one I saw in Cuba over 15 years ago:

  1. Lovely collection Sue. I did wonder if you’d include your camera. 😀

  2. Wonderful, Sue. I love your breakfast shot and Basilicata too. Your delicate place setting and tablecloth are marvelous. Lovely.

  3. A very Sue collection. The bookshop is enticing, but it’s your love of ruins that really comes across here.

  4. nice post…thanks for share

  5. A great selection of photos, but …. double espresso in the evening? How do you ever sleep??

  6. These are perfect Sue. That scene in Italy is superb!

  7. Love your gallery of favourite things Sue.

  8. I anticipated some ‘decay’, and I wasn’t disappointed. 🙂
    Best wishes, Pete.

  9. This is a lovely insight into your world. The photos are all lovely.

  10. This is Sue. Like Pete, was I expecting some “decay” … beautiful.

  11. The bookshop in B&W with the bike is a lovely shot Sue.

  12. The egg cup really made me smile. Except for my grandparents I never knew anyone who ate their eggs that way. It made me remember breakfasts with them, the egg cup and the toaster that you had to keep opening to see if the toast was ok before you turned it over.

  13. Beautiful collection, Sue. The street mural is awesome..

  14. This is an excellent take on You, Sue. Like me – only a few favorites can be mentioned, but these beauties are all You!

  15. A beautiful, thoughtful tour of some of the outward manifestations of the inward you.
