Six Word Saturday: I came across a scented rose

I write sets of six words-

Scent is a rare thing nowadays. Roses are now bred for colour………..a very sad state of affairs. The scent of this was delightful.

This is Rosa Gertrude Jekyll ‘Ausbord’:

(( Apologies for the naff image – I tried to rescue a severely over-exposed shot.))

  1. It’s a shame that they are being cultivated for colour, rather than scent. The scent in a garden is most of the pleasure for me. And I also wonder if it stops pollinating insects finding them?
    Best wishes, Pete.

  2. Jackie

Recently on a French tour and the guide mentioned how French women love perfume. Most of the group was American (I’m not) and she went on to say that Americans don’t use perfume as much.

  3. I agree. I love the scent of a rose 😍🌹💕

  4. David Austin English roses are bred for colour and scent. There are some amazing scented roses out there. And Gertrude is one of them 🙂
