To See a World in a Grain of Sand...
Quite a collection, Sue. I remember being so happy when the wall came down, something I didn’t think I’d see in my lifetime. Amazing!

Indeed, an absolutely incredible event!
Great that you captured so many of the iconic art works on the Wall, Sue. Most of it’s gone now, a few pieces are preserved. A part of the former Wall greets me when I enter Cologne airport, a very arty monument.
Glad you like these,Dina….a bit of the past…..
Wow! Seems so long ago now. Great captures, Sue.
Doesn’t it just….and in early November 1989, I was in Bavaria when lines of Trabants were pouring out of the East….
What an experience for both you and them.
It most certainly was….a sight I shall never forget
I recognise Brezhnev, I suppose the other must be Honecker…
Right on both counts, Chris!
cool art
It was quite a sight!
We forget just how much the World has changed in such a relatively short space of time 🙂
Indeed…..
Astonishingly, one or two of these are still there (possibly re-interpreted), or have been updated, as in the case of the Brezhnev/Honecker image. But yours was an exciting time to visit. Now it’s pretty impossible to spot where you’re crossing over from West to East. Which is as it should be, I guess. Here’s an updated image: https://photos.app.goo.gl/Z27f2u5sN7i3Z5Su5
Thanks for this, Margaret….not the same as the old one with the Trabi!
Great images Sue. I stayed in former East Berlin in 2002 (didn’t visit the wall). What a time!
We stayed in Potsdam in 1993, and Dresden….what a time, as you say. The autobahn was the old motorway built in Hitler’s time and full of stonking great potholes….
Good to see the wall art, especially the iconic Trabant car. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.
The East Side Gallery in the early 1990s until about 2003 was a brilliant place for wall art
