This one is related to my love of ruins. I had seen a photograph of Fay Godwin’s taken near Tanygrisiau in Snowdonia. This was in, I think, 1984, the pre- Internet age. I got my maps of North Wales out and borrowed books from the library so I was pretty sure where to go to find the ruin I wanted (a journey of a couple of hundred miles) and here it is:
I can still remember walking up the slope and coming across the photograph, and walking around the small lake to get the best position. And then walking further along the track and coming across more ruins….heaven!

I have scanned all these images in from the original negatives, and have been pleased with how they came out after all those years.
If you go to that area now, the ruins are obviously much depleted…..I have seen images taken by friends.
