Those distant Azulejos at Lamego

In my last post, I referred to some marvellous Azulejos at Our Lady of the Remedies, Lamego, that I missed through infirmity, shall we say.

I was determined to get some form of image, so walked a little way up from where our coach parked in the town below, and here is what I got – sadly, you don’t get the detail of the Azulelejos, but instead you get a sense of the scale and the structure of the place. The two little figures admiring the tiles on the sixth terrace down add to the image, I think.

  1. Love this shot, Sue! The two people add a perfect sense of scale.
(I used Google to translate the other comment. It came back as “I know the place, beautiful!”)
    Best wishes, Pete.

  2. Gosh, that’s quite a place! Even steeper than the water garden at Alnwick. I don’t think I could manage all those stairs to the top.

  3. This place reminds me a lot of Bom Jesus near Braga. 🙂

  4. Yes , similar to Bom Jesus. I’ve not been there either but both are on the list. This makes a rather wistful, interesting shot, Sue. 🙂 🙂

  5. What an incredible place, a real masterpiece of the 18th century. I’d love to see it!
