A diminutive lone figure strides out amidst monumental stonework and some topiary.
An image taken from the terrace of Our Lady of the Remedies, Lemego, Portugal. I liked the geometry of those stairs and the size of the architecture. Alas, I didn’t have the strength to get down just one or two flights of steps, because there were some marvellous Azulejos to be seen adorning the walls. I only managed to take a distant image from near where our coach parked lower down…I shall show those in my next post.
It dwarfs the man, and makes him look insignificant in the surroundings. Nice shot, Sue. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.
He looks lost in that scenario!
It’s amazing how we get so much perspective with the visitor in the shot – it really shows how large those columns are, and how steeply the stairs slope down.
Thanks! Glad you liked this
Nice!! It looks like someplace that would make a fantastic location for a slightly avant- garden movie, of the kind Peter Greenaway and Alain Resnais made.
Ah, the late Alain Resnais….l’Année dernière à Marienbad
That was my first thought, but when I found some still from the film, the grounds of the house are more modernist. Peter Greenaway’s ‘The Draftsman’s Contract’ though …
Don’t recall the Greenaway film, I must say
I think it might have been his first. I probably saw it in the early 80s maybe?
The name sounded familiar, but I don’t remember the film!
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Draughtsman%27s_Contract — I watched it again recently and quite enjoyed it 🙂
Great photo, Sue. Thanks!
Thank you, Isabel!
Nice angle, Sue! 🙂 🙂
Thanks, Jo!
