LensArtists Photo Challenge #27: My Travels

My Travels

I have always loved travelling, seeing new places, meeting new people.

When I was in my late teens, I organised a Youth Hosteling trip in North Wales, then a year or two later went InterRailing with a friend…and that had me hooked!

Since then, I have driven thousands of miles in Europe, also had some rail trips too. But I have only stepped out of Europe twice, once was to see Cuba, driving across the island, and once was on a Cruise which took in a number of South American countries and the Panama Canal (all too briefly), and touched on Havana in Cuba again.

I am very pleased to have had the opportunity to see so many places and cultures, it really has nourished my soul. And now my health is less good, I am determined to find ways of continuing to see places albeit less adventurously!

So what to pick for this challenge? I was reminiscing earlier in the day about the MSA EuroClassic that we used to participate in, and once the tour had finished, we would have several hundred to a thousand miles or so to drive back home, so I used to create my own Scenic Tours, planning the route, places to see, booking the hotels….and we had some very memorable trips. Here’s a glimpse

  1. What a beautiful album and lovely memories of your scenic tours. It must have felt like such a leisurely “stroll” on your return trip home.

  2. You really had some great times, Sue – and i understand you also was a skilled driver and photographer. So many memories, so much to enjoy again and again!

  3. Amy

That is a lot of travels, Sue. Good to know you used to used to create your own Scenic Tours… I’m sure it involves details in planning. A beautiful glimpse via your photos. Thank you for sharing! 🙂

  4. Beautiful Sue – I especially loved the old castle. Sounds like those were excellent adventures!

  5. Lovely pictures, Sue. I especially like the street scene. I want to go for a stroll up that street. 🙂

  6. Great memories of wonderful travels, Sue.
And I spotted a ‘One’, walking up that cobbled street. 🙂
    Best wishes, Pete.

  7. Such an interesting mix of places Sue so good to have photos to look back at

  8. The first two are my kind of place, little old towns to snoop around. I wish I’d been able to travel when I was young but it wasn’t meant to be.

  9. Lovely images and memories, both, Sue. Here’s to more travel, of whatever kind, in the coming year. 🙂 🙂
