Well, more ravages of time, but this ruined church really said condemned to me…..roofless and altarless…a very sad relic
Thanks to Becky’s square format, this version looks better than the original…. I had to take the image through a wire netting fence, with a tiny pancake wide-angle lens (no chance of getting inside) and crop the resulting image quite drastically.

It has certainly seen better times, Sue. And the back wall looks like a sad face. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.
A mournful face was exactly how I saw its, Pete
oh this is rather sad. What a stunning building it once was . . .do you know what is was?
PS delighted to read that the square crop has had such a positive impact 🙂
Thought you might!!
It was the church at Craco Veccia in Basilicata, Italy..abandoned in the ’60s, I would have love to have seen the place in the’80s
wondered if it was a church. Must have been stunning. I wonder if anyone will renovate, looks like it would make a lovely home.
The whole village is derelict, abandoned since the 1960s, and in a poorer part of Italy Here’s a taste: https://suejudd.com/2018/04/03/c-takes-us-to-craco-vecchia/
How extraordinary. That is a very atmospheric ghost town.
It must be on a lot of Americans places to visit as I just read somewhere that nearly 1500 emigrated to the USA at the turn of the last century. Thank you so much for sharing this link and including the church in #timesquare, I have learnt something this morning 🙂
It was most atmospheric, and pleased you have learnt something!
A sad face it is…Always fun to change something – and get an even better photo!
Indeed it is, Ann Christine!
Wonderful image.
Thank you! It worked better than I expected!
Picture of a skull that has cried for it’s own demise.
