Less is not enough.
I like it Sue – a warm, nosy peak into someone’s room. Light, dark and warm colour works for me.
I also quite like it cropped a bit to lose curtain pole, bottom shiny floor and perhaps a bit of right side. Makes it seem cosier and nosier.
Thanks, Debbie….Yes, I did debate cosy and nosy, but the contrasty floors made me keep the thing less ‘tight’….
I like the soft light here. Maybe a square format to cut off some of the floor?
I rather liked the light on the floor, Draco!
Fair enough, the shine on the floor helps lead the eye into the room.
That’s how it works for me!
🙂
Just a little bit of home, Sue. What’s not to like?
janet
Indeed! Glad you like it, Janet
I rather like that one. As an aside…..I used to photograph Stately Homes for a couple of magazines. The Editors had two opposite points of view when it came to the interior shots. One insisted that doors should where ever possible be left open to allow the reader to see beyond the featured room. The other was quite the reverse they insisted that the doors of a room be closed so you concentrated the readers mind to each room in turn. (and as I never sold images on an exclusive basis it did mean that I always shot both options) 🙂
Oh, very interesting!
It’s a very nice shot, comfortable, safe and productive.
Thanks, Mark!
It has an indoor / outdoor feel for me, as if a study on introspection, despite the outside world’s call.
Hmmm….interesting!
It looks to me like a work place which is strategically located near the large window with an emphasis on natural light. Great photo, Sue!
It was an amateur artist’s room – glad you like it, Peter
I think it’s a pleasant and peaceful peek through two doors. Works for me, Sue.
Best wishes, Pete.
Thanks, Pete!
I might have cropped it a bit, but I like the glimpse into the cosy study, the polished floor, the lovely old rugs. Can almost smell the beeswax polish.
Yes, those polished floors, and the cosy interior 😊
As with so many of your photos Sue, I find myself imagining the stories of those absent from the frame. I think it would still work with the closest bit of floor cropped out. There is still shine on the floor inside the room. But either way, I’m mentally auditioning imaginary occupants 🙂
Love the way you are “imagining the stories of those absent from the frame” ….I do like to create images that raise questions for the viewer!
And you do it very well 🙂
Many thanks, Su! Much appreciated
I love taking photos of entryways into rooms that might ordinarily be hidden – I think this one succeeds as a peek into someone else’s life.
I used to take images of entries into abandoned, derelict places…now it’s more like this…..
Makes me want to look inside but I think I’d find it rather dark. Lots of legs too!!!
Oh, it wasn’t too dark when you were in there!
