September Squares / 4: Pink, but no longer in the Pink

Old crane seen at Canada Water 5 years ago, no longer ‘In the Pink’ in terms of service life. It was once red but now decidedly faded to pink- my sort of ‘seen better days’ really (I think it has been removed now):

Linked to September Squares at Becky’s here

  1. I lived in Redriff Road, not far from that crane, from 1985-1997. I also remember them from my childhood, unloading barges when The Thames was bustling with ships and activity. It’s a nice look at the past of that area, and I was glad that they left them in situ. (And the nearby swing bridge)
    Best wishes, Pete.

  2. It makes an elegant shot, Sue 🙂 🙂 I’m loving people’s ingenuity in this challenge. All ok with you this week?

  3. Great shot of an aging piece of equipment against the backdrop of a modern cityscape, Sue!

  4. It looks quite abandoned there. Love the conrast with the city in the background.

  5. Fantastic shot but that’s so sad.

  6. The crane is an interesting contrast isn’t it? But I suppose it didn’t fit with the glossy buildings across the river. Meg won’t even see the comments from her group of friends, she will really be missed. Such a darling.
