A couple of closer views of an old abandoned town in Basilicata. A place that has to be one of my favourite deserted places….full of enigmatic, mournful silence…
I know I have posted these before, but…..

Propped up, Craco

Abandoned town? I wonder what could be the reason. Lack of work? Superb images, Sue!
No, landslides….
Love them both, Sue. Worth posting again (although I don’t remember seeing them the first time.) Have a great weekend.

Oh, it would have been some time ago, Janet!
…but…we still just love them, Sue!
Great!
Nothing wrong with re-posting abandonment and decay, Sue. I enjoyed them. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.
Thanks, Pete!
(EN) Very original photos. It’s in the south (of Italy) and you must know how to reach the place. My compliments Sue.
(IT) Foto molto originali. È nel sud (d’ Italia) e devi sapere come raggiungere il posto. I miei complimenti Sue.
Glad you liked these!
I’m sure we could bring it back to life again, Sue. I’m game 😃
Oh, Jo, I thought you weren’t game for a ‘doer upper’!! 😳🤔
It doesn’t look too far gone to me, Sue. Perhaps it’s the wine 🙂
Well, looks can be deceptive…and the wine clearly did its job, Jo!!
We weren’t allowed too near these places, and there was very little left behind the facade in some cases….been ruined for decades
I can see the potential. Clearer head this morning 🙂 🙂
😊😊
Love the 2nd one especially. The arch framed it beautifully! 🙂
Thanks, Amy!
How sad they look as though they were a beautiful place to live before the landslide. I wonder where all the people went. What a terrible upheaval to face. How long ago was it abandoned?
The place was abandoned in the 50s and last people out in the 60s, to a new town nearby on lôwer, safer ground
The first photo is particularly effective.
Thanks, Suzanne!
I don’t remember seeing them so I’m glad you posted them.
Thanks, Gilly!
Impressive composition in the second shot, Sue. So happy with your entry xx
Thanks, Paula – glad you like!
