Paula has given us a few words to chose from…I’m going for Fortified and Submerged
A couple of images for Fortified – an old ruined castle in North Wales

Rhuddlan castle
and a Maginot line fort

Decaying Maginot fort
I did consider I should include an image of people tucking in to a good meal….they would have been fortified against th rigours of the day, but didn’t have an image!
Next is submerged, and you have to use your imagination here. This is a village that was submerged when a dam was built. You can only see the church tower when the dam is full, but when we were there the waters were very low, and the village wasn’t submerged:

I don’t know that castle, Sue, but it’s a nice shot in black and white. 🙂 🙂
Rhuddlan, in Denbighshire(I think) – image taken in the late 1970s, I think….
I like the use of B&W on those first two shots. How sad about the village!

Thanks, Janet. As for the village, it was the fate of a number of places when huge reservoirs were being built, sadly….
Happens here, too, sometimes.
Well, needs must…
I knew you would be ready with ‘Fortified’, Sue. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.
Oh dear, I’m too well known!
In a good way…
Haha!
Amazing that village is still standing. How long had it been submerged?
I have no idea, Pauline, as I can’t now recall where it was!!
I have a lot of photos like that
Well, most of mine I know, or sometimes tag…this is one that got away!
I wonder who decides when that a village should be flooded, I think there’s one near to Bristol.
Who indeed….the local Council, I imagine….
Spiffing entry, Sue. I am so intrigued to visit that village wherever it is 🙂
Thanks, Paula! Well, I don’t remember where the village was, but it’s in the middle of a reservoir, so inaccessible at all times!
What country?
Lost in the mists of time…pre-digital, so I have no date, no data…..probably France
Have you any challenge planned for Sunday? ….just asking…..
