Following on from Just Testing….

Well, after yesterday’s excitement over having discovered another way to post using my ailing iPad, I am less than enamoured with its flaws…

I can’t create a draft to post later….. well, I can create a draft, then it disappears! But it will be there if I go to the desktop Mac, smugly grinning at me. So why can’t I see it on the iPad app?? I could yesterday morning. But not any more. aaargh…technology

I can’t view a list of upcoming posts that I want to schedule. Groan

So gone are my days of endless fun creating posts with an iPad, until I spend some money

Rant over…..for now

  1. Possibly it just needs a factory reset and software upgrade. your data will be in the cloud although you should backup data anyway. Hopefully that will give you a clean slate – just had to do this with my Samsung tablet – it was needing some housekeeping a spring clean so to speak. Also made sure it had space left to move the files around so if it is a 16gb ipad try not to load more than 13gb on to the ipad. Hope this helps. Scott

Nope, not possible with Apple stuff…they only upgrade so far. And I don’t use the cloud, my photos are too large (RAW files), so I
use external hard drives for back up. Bear in mind the iPad is 6 y.ears old now
      Thanks anyway.!

  2. Technology, and planned obsolescence. They get us every time. I have bought Julie three Samsung tablets over the years, including the latest version. But the processor and storage on those just isn’t enough to run things like a PC does. She is constantly frustrated by slow downs and frozen screens.
My 6-year old Windows 7 desktop PC is till working. At least until I typed this of course. 🙂
    Best wishes, Pete.

Teehee! It all depends what we want to use the things for…I have an 11 or 12 year old PC which still works, used for scanning slides and nothing else.
It’s the Internet connectivity that is the big killer

      • I have my PC plugged into an ethernet cable, so it’s 100% reliable. But even with good wi-fi speed, and a signal booster, it drives Julie crazy! 🙂

      • Sue

No, I said that wrong…I meant using the thing for the Internet, browser upgrades, speeds, oh, all sorts of things

  3. 😀 You will find solutions…

  4. This is more fun than watching the TV News, and we’re all learning something useful 😉

  5. I have a 5 year old iPad which is giving some serious problems. For my blog (self hosted WP) I write more and more in markdown using Byword, then drop the markdown into the browser. Even that is becoming a problem now. After a certain point you simply cannot upgrade any further, and more an more apps just don’t work with the old operating system.
I recently acquired a Huawei Mate 10 Pro mobile. It is happy to use both my mini Bluetooth keyboard and mouse (you won’t find that on Apple). Even more interesting, with the addition of a USB-C to HDMI cable I can plug it into a large screen. Still getting it right, but I am starting to use it more and more instead of the iPad.

New apps, and browser updates not working with an old OS are the problems….. Planned obsolescence

      • That’s it. Though I’ve seen both sides. Users want more and more. Platforms need to be upgraded and there is a limit to how many different software versions can be maintained. That’s with my programmer hat on. 😁
I use Linux not Windows at home, and have developed a preference for Android having evaluated both IOS and android in my job.
