Just testing…how to rescue a lost iPad situation

There is another way to create posts, not using the Dashboard….I looked at it before, and found it limited. But given my iPad predicament, it’s Any Port in a Storm….so here goes (or doesn’t as the case may be)

First, I’ve done the words. Now can I be bold….  Or even italic…. Oooh, I can even cross stuff out  D’you know, it isn’t too bad – let’s try an image….and this is where it’s not so good.

You’ve seen a similar one before:

The problem is, it feeds off the entire camera roll, rather than my specially selected images, and I don’t think I can title them properly….aaaargh
Ah no, with a bit of thinking, I can suss this one…

Prep the image folders in advance, title them once they are in the post….all becomes possible!  I have just sussed how to save a draft. I think I’ll manage!

  1. I didn’t even know about another way to post, so well done, Sue.
    Best wishes, Pete.

  2. How very resourceful! I am clueless. You’ve done this on the unhappy iPad? I can only steer a laptop… and badly, at that 😦

  3. So what exactly are you doing???

    • Sue

Well, yesterday I was creating posts from the WP app, but not using it to go to the Dashboard which takes you to the WP web page….but my iPad will no longer do that .
BUT…I can only create a post ‘on the fly’, as it were, then it’s lost to sight and the WP people haven’t told me how I can see a draft I create..,,Aaargh.
So for today, back to the Mac to create posts if it’s still behaving – it got going again yesterday.

  4. Sooooo, what happened to your nomal posting method?

Figuring out how to post from an iPad or tablet is tricky. You can download a wordpress app which gives you accesss to your Dashboard . I have done it on my Samsung Tablet anyway. I finding typingg on the tablet laborious and have yet to figure out many of the finer points. You are doing well.

Whoops sorry I misread your post and thought you could only post from the iPad. Discount everything I’ve said!😃

  7. Thanks for the backup plan information. I use my desktop only for posts and photo editing, and I’m stuck in that habit. That’s another reason I generally don’t post on holidays.

  8. For what it is worth, the WP App on the iPhone (or iPad) works really well for scanning Reader, Viewing Posts, Liking and Commenting. It’s also great for reviewing comments and responding. However, I’m with Monsieur Draco, the desktop is the only way to edit photos, add watermarks and create posts – the way I like to post, anyway.

Well, I can still do most of the checking Reader, Viewing Posts, Liking and Commenting. Just can’t post in the way that I used to! A shame, as I don’t always want to fire up the desktop if I’m having a bad day healthwise – it’s easier to use the iPad. I use photogene on the iPad which makes a good fist of handling RAW images and editing them (including resizing), then it’s over to another app to watermark – job done!
So some of the posts you see on my site were done entirely on the iPad….but looks like that will change now, until I get a new iPad. Which won’t be quite yet.

  9. I’m with the last 2 comments Sue I use and love my desk top for posting and editing photos etc, but sit in front of tv checking the reader and liking and commenting on my favourite bloggers on the iPad. I admire your determination to beat the system and find a way round the problem, well done.

  10. I’ve tried posting in other ways besides my desktop, but I still prefer my trusty desktop. Kudos to you for trying an alternate.

  11. Sue, Apple directed me to delete the cookies, clear out history, and restart my computer when I had some problems with WordPress.
