Today, Paula is asking for an image taken in the Blue Hour…I have very few, but here are a couple, seemingly all trees and clouds:
….and then I remembered the Pièce de la resistance, my very first Blue Hour image, and one of my favourites of all time:
Linked to Paula’s Thursday Special here
Very nice.
Thank you, Kelly
Now I know what a Blue Hour is like. Thank you, Sue!
And it’s quite brief….before dawn and after sunset
Good to know!
That Cretan blue hour is sublime, Sue.
Three decades ago, getting a coach or something to take us from Elounda on the Eastern side of Crete across to the Samaria gorge on the Western side….and saw this soon after we left, approaching Agios Nikolaus…well, that’s what my memory tells me
Sounds like a very lovely trip. Have never got myself to Crete.
My then partner and I covered a lot of miles on the island, getting away from the beaten tourist track….
That sounds brilliant too.
Here’s another scene from that trip that I still remember vividly: https://suejudd.com/2012/08/02/pantoum/
That is one breathtaking vista, Sue.
It was stunning….
I hadn’t even heard of the blue hour. But looking at your great shots, I get it now.
Best wishes, Pete.
Yay! I have to admit, it’s rare for me to see a morning blue hour these days!!
that early morning image is stunning, but I think my favourite is the second one.
Ah, the reflected light pretending to be a moon…..
What lovely photos. I love the one taken on Crete.
Yes, I need to work out h ow to increase the size without it getting pixelated….
Yes, I know the problem. Good luck.
It was a heavy crop, so I may have to use more of the original frame. I have been successful at resizing upwards to a small degree previously
Your favorite is also my favorite
Thank you!!
That second one blows me away!
Oh, the pretend moon! A reflected light
I can see why that would be a favorite image, it is lovely.
Thank you!
You have caught the tranquility of that moment Sue
Thank you, Pauline!
It’s easy to see why it is one of your favourites of all time 🙂 Lovely work, Sue!
It was just a gift of a shot, and I still recall that morning now, three decades on!
