June Squares : Rooves / 14

Staying in rural Poland, here’s a wonderfully weathered old wooden hut roof…. in splendid decay, with the relentless onslaught of the trees:

Somehow, it puts me in mind of a little painting I have from Austria, years ago (subject of a post here) Probably the air of ramshackle decay and loneliness….

  1. Makes me think how it once provided shelter in that environment, Sue. Nice context indeed.
    Best wishes, Pete.

  2. What draws my attention is the feeling that the forest is about to take completely over the hut or what’s left of it. As you say, an onslaught. A beautiful capture.

  3. This shot makes you want to know the story of who lived there. And what happened. Also a whole new take on a ‘tree house’.

  4. An intriguing capture, Sue. Makes me curious to see if it’s just weather-beaten or decaying.

  5. In France, if we had found such a marvel, it would be called the urbex (the discovery of dwelling, castles, houses, huts) left in a state of abandonment and where nature often resumes its rights
    Very beautiful picture

  6. Nature doesn’t take long to take over. I recall the little potting shed behind our house in Ludlow, which was almost completely subsumed by nature within a year or two of non-use.

  7. You saw so much on your few days in Poland. I’m awed. Don’t know that I’d like to live here in winter!!!

  8. Wow that is rural! Wonderful.
