T is for Talinn

Wondering what to post for T…. then I recalled a few images from Tallinn. An incredibly touristy place, I imagine you need to go very off-season… Anyway, I took a few images with the crowds in, then I decided to look up, or get in close.

so, here is my view, of a place that I  only got to see for a few hours:

…and now a gallery of details

And finally, a monochrome conversion

Bright and contrasty

  1. You need to go in the winter!!

  2. My very well-travelled cousin went to Tallin. He was so taken with it, he rang me up and told me “You must go, it’s great!” You found some nice angles in that slideshow.
    Best wishes, Pete.

It’s a place I would like to see more of, but as my mobility isn’t great, I would struggle….and in winter there would be extra hazards…

  3. It looks beautiful, Sue. I expect I could escape the crowd with a bit of effort. Winter might be too cool for me xx

  4. Pat

Sue, I love the gallery of details. I’ve been thinking about whether my photos of details (urban macro?) give a good sense of a place and I found yours to do just that. The street scenes were about tourists within some urban area – that was all I noticed. I would enjoy hearing what your thinking is.

Pleased you think my gallery of details evokes a sense of place, Pat! I was so disappointed that the place was heaving with tourists, but by focussing in on the detail, I felt I did get some sense of the place. I wanted images of barrow windy streets, but not a hope!

  5. Pretty and I like the monochrome conversion.

  6. I’ve heard Talinn is fabulous. I hope to make it there one of these days. It looks inviting. 🙂
