Some images from my travels in the region of Bucovina, Romania. One day I will post some colour images of the Painted Monasteries for which this region is famous.
I have previously posted a couple of images from Voronet monastery here: https://suejudd.com/2014/06/04/frizztexts-a-to-z-challenge-v-is-for-voronet/
also, the colour image of one of the images in this post is here: https://suejudd.com/2014/12/11/one-35/
When I travelled to some countries behind the Iron Curtain, I missed out Romania. My loss, it now seems.
Best wishes, Pete.
Ah, but would you have been going in the Ciaucescu years, Pete….I’m sure there was no tourist infrastructure then…at least there was the beginnings of one when we visited.
I have never been to Romania, but did know some people from there. It seemed an extremely poor country fianncially when I knew them (late 1980s), with poor health care). Lovely photos, very evocative–
Pleased you like these images.
Such evocative images, Sue. They make me want to know more about the people captured in them.
Many thanks, Sylvia! I aim to ask questions with my images- seems that worked for you here….
It must be fascinating place to visit.
It was, Gilly
I like the way you presented those informative images in the condensed form of a slide show. Well done!
Thanks, Peter…I do more images than words!!
Another great collection of photos.Black and white is superbly right in strengthening the sense of times past. The colour one doesn’t do it. Figure in a landscape works beautifully for you. Makes mine feel empty!
My landscapes always used to be empty..well, almost always. I generally tried to avoid people in my images, now I include them if I feel they strengthen the image.
As they always do!
