Delighting in Our World
great photos, Sue. Looks like a wonderful place. Did you see Count Dracula, too?:))
Well, the closest I got was seeing a rickety horse and cart on the track below Poeinari castle ruin…
:))
That castle, incidentally, is supposed to be the real Dracula castle…..
I was waiting for the angry crowd, pitchforks and flaming torches at the ready!
Looks timeless over there, Sue. Nice images indeed.
Best wishes, Pete.
These images were taken over a decade ago, Pete,…but I wouldn’t imagine much has changed in rural areas
These all seem a bit bleak in black and white.
The shepherd image does, I agree…but the rest just speak of solitude to me
Maybe not the church, but the tree one too looks a bit sinister. I probably watch too many thrillers!
Oh, Jude! The lady on the cobbled path is my favourite! Sinister? 🙄
Well. I think so. It’s the trees.
Ah well, it takes us all in different ways!
These are tremendous, Sue. Especially love the woman ‘in black’ on the cobbled byway, and the brooding drama of the shepherd against the sky.
Glad you like these, Tish…the woman on the cobbled path is one of my favourite images from all my photographs….
I can well see why.
😊😊
Very striking photos. I have been there too, and there was something very ancient and at places very wrong-feeling about some of it. I can see why there are stories, and I did not spend enough time to really get into the culture in that area beyond those feelings and witnessing a few odd crimes which I did not see elsewhere–this was back about 1992 or so. The odd little skulls that have been there forever were very unsettling in their way to me too, at the time.
Hmm, seems you saw a different side to it than I did…certainly never saw any crimes or skulls….
How long were you there?
Less than a week, and we rented an apartment. The skull motif was on a lot of religious buildings and was odd because it had what looked like teeth on the top, and we saw some young men that we took to be racists hassling an old woman, and someone stole a pocketbook right near us and raced at top speed down the steep stairs away. We were young martial artists and did what we could, but did not get too seriously involved with anyone.
That sounds weird, disturbing…
Yup. Now you know what I mean!
For me that would be alone-ness–rather than lonely.
Yes, that’s a good way of putting it!
Nothing sinister about the lady on the path, it’s a great image.
Glad you like it, Gilly!
Very nice Sue!
Thank you, Pat!
Oh the middle photo is so spooky. love them all 🙂
Spooky? The lady walking down the path?
Yes, well a little spooky 🙂 she looks a little ghostly 🙂
No!
He he 🙂
