Variations on a Theme

I had an idea to convert some images to monochrome, pick a few similar images….then I discover that WordPress weekly theme this week is variations on a theme…so here goes:

  1. Theme nailed completely, Sue! Great stuff indeed.
    Best wishes, Pete.

  2. Love all these walkways. And people add so much interest — as does the monochrome. Great collection!

  3. Shadow walking at its’ finest. Nice work!

  4. love your interpretation of the theme! the framing in “the play of light” photo is on point — the patterns, shadows, etc. are lovely. thanks for sharing.

  5. Great gallery, Sue! I especially like that first one with the couple, and Play of light. 🙂 🙂 I have a similar one to your tunnel, taken in Bath. Not seen it in B &W though.

  6. Excellent approach to the theme, Sue. All the images come together really well.

  7. They are all very interesting but of course my favourite is the one in the cloisters. I love the way the light slants across the floor.

  8. I love seeing a compilation of your photos. It really showcases your skill with light and shadow. I also enjoy all those pirated figures!

  9. Wonderful images 👏👏

  10. Play of light is a beautiful composition Sue

Terrific theme Sue – especially like ‘out of the gloom’ – did you consider shooting any of them in B&W originally – never quite sure when to switch from one mode to another so often do both!

Thanks, Laura! I did consider a few for monochrome, and ‘out of the gloom’ was one of them! I shoot RAW, so it’s essentially not an issue whether I go the B&W or colour route, as the images are all post-processed…..

ah ha! I also shoot raw & jpg but recently have been using an app to transfer from camera to iPad but it only recognises the jpgs 😦

      • Sue

I transfer from camera to iPad with the iPad card reader (dunno what it’s really called), then I use Photosync to transfer the RAW images to the computer from the iPad. Sometimes, I will edit the RAW images on the iPad with Photogene

I transfer Raw to computer with a lead – so many options, so few moments to spare

  14. Love these especially the last shot. Great entry!

  15. Difficult to choose between these, I like the cloisters but wish the man didn’t have anything over his shoulder, I like the underpass. Okay I’ve worked it out, the couple win! and you nailed the challenge, I still haven’t got a clue.

    • Sue

Thanks, Gilly! But which couple – the two in Piigliano, or the ‘Shadow in the morning’ pair?!! Like you, I don’t think cloister man looks right for the scene, but too bad, eh?
