“Your shadow at morning striding behind you”
TS Eliot, The Wasteland
Went for a wander into town this morning, bright sunshine….instant mood lifter after the seemingly interminable grey of recent days.

Wonderful shot and very apt quote, Sue.
Many thanks, Sylvia!
A very fitting photo to go with the poem!
Thanks, Peter – glad you like it
The are on the road to the light.
😊😊
And limping along at night! 🙂 🙂 That’s a superb photo, Sue! Definitely something to be cheerful about.
Glad you like this, I was pleased to get a nice, crisp image this morning. Oh, and by the way…”or your shadow at evening rising to meet you” is the way it continues. I need to find an image to illustrate this, I may have one
That’ll be good. 🙂
We shall see
Nice indeed, Sue. We still have that ‘interminable grey’ up here, and persistent light rain to go with it.
Best wishes, Pete.
Glad you like this one, Pete
And then you post a black and white photo! Oh, well. Lovely shadows, sharp image and great quote 🙂
Well, it’s B&W, Jude – not grey!!
True 🙂
😀😀
Nice play of words and image. It’s a lovely shot 🙂
Thanks very much,Su 😊
Hooray, the sunshine is really cheering isn’t it? let’s hope it stays for a while. The days are already getting longer, that always helps me.
The sunshine this morning was lovely, but we are back to grey here…. 😟
Such contrast–best for B&W!
Indeed!
Love those walking feet. And it’s the second time in two days I’ve encountered that quote. The other time it was far more sinister.
Where did you come across it, Meg? As you will know, the quote continues with
“Or your shadow at evening rising to meet you
and I will show you fear in a handful of dust”
which could give rise to the sinister connotation
In Norman Mailer’s monumental novel about a CIA operative.
Harlot’s ghost? Never read it as it is indeed monumental 1200 or so pages…..and he can get show-off wordy……
I love his show-off wordy!!
Was it a good read?
Still reading.
Oh, let me know when you have finished it
