Still Life with Camera

I haven’t been taking many photographs recently, and have a ton of household duties to do today….BUT the sun is streaming through the lounge window, and I can’t let a good opportunity go.

So…I dashed off a couple of Still Lifes just to keep me happy!

Firstly, camera in focus:

…and next, camera as background

I did a quick bit of processing on the iPad, if I have time, energy and luck with the light later, I may try some better efforts. Hope you enjoy these!

  1. As I said yesterday, I always like your still life photos. The old camera is just the icing on the still-life cake!
(Probably why I prefer the top one too)
    Best wishes, Pete.

  2. I’m with Pete on this, Sue. I love the camera and the muted tones of the first one.

  3. Well worth taking the time to set them up (and take advantage of the ‘free’ light) 🙂

  4. Oh, forget the silly old housework and play, Sue! It’s good for the soul 🙂 🙂

  5. I like them both and I also like your book collection…

  6. Silly old housework is good for the soul too. Washing the dishes is boring enough to make me want to play.

Photographically, I like the first one best. There’s nothing in it to disturb my seeing. The details all come together in a whole, and I feel free to explore it.
The second was the one that caught my attention. Bruce Chatwin! I haven’t forgot him, but I haven’t thought about him for a long while. I miss him. I feel it more now than ever that it was such a big loss that he died so young.
Two pictures. You’ve said a lot.

  7. Aha. The Bruce Chatwin is on my bookshelf too. The second one tells such a story. Two photographers, a book to savour, a cuppa to savour it with. And a possibility. When can we buy “Sue Judd: photographs and notebooks”?

Throwing them together may be the way to go. I’m too anal and orderly. However the objects I most want to still life are old bottles!
