Clean

A belated entry for last week’s One Word Sunday which was Clean

Firstly, a visit to rural Romania produced the first two images. Here is a channel for the water to be harnessed for washing rugs and mats:

…and here’s a woman hard at work:

And here’s an array of garments drying in the strong sunlight in Lucca, Tuscany:

  1. I love the small arched shuttered windows, I wonder…..
I saw a similar kind of water system in valleys of Galicia in Spain, simpler times 🙂

  2. Perhaps we should donate all those now unwanted ‘Black Friday’ washing machines to Romania? Just a thought.
This worked well, Sue. It told us something about how others live too.
    Best wishes, Pete.

  3. The good old days, hey? I’d have hated to be a washer woman. Unless I could do it in Lucca. 🙂 🙂

  4. Love the last shot Sue. Those darling shutters and the tiny socks, not to mention the shadows.

  5. Makes me thankful for my washer and dryer, although I do line dry (indoors) whenever possible. I’d love to have an outdoor clothes line someday. That fresh smell is so wonderful. Sorry I’ve missed you for a bit. Lots of extra shifts and work and things to do around the house. 🙂

Well, I haven’t been blogging so much lately, Janet…other things to do. Like you, I love the scent of outdoor line dried laundry, but alas I have to do mine indoors now….

  6. Clothes in Lucca look the cleanest 😉 Hope you have been well mate.

  7. Love the shadows on that whitewashed wall, and the backyard water supply.

  8. All very clean I can almost smell the freshness.

  9. A nice mixture. I’m not a big housework fan and having to do it in a cold river would not go down well with me (unless there were some photo opportunities!)
But Lucca looks wonderful – washing or not!
