The other side of Wordless Wednesday

You can just see the Virginia Creeper on the top left of the tower here. I was unable to get  closer to this structure as the gate was firmly bolted, and the farmer turned up shortly after I had taken my images…..

Farm outbuildings in rural Ireland

  1. A former church, later used as a farm? That’s an interesting adaptation indeed.
    Best wishes, Pete.

  2. Some welcome colour on this damp, grey morning

  3. Curiouser and curiouser. If it was once a church it looks to have had an extremely long nave. And then all those door/window arches. It has a vaguely industrial archaeological look to my eye, but then the building could have gone through many phases. What a fascinating find.

  4. What a great building!

  5. Love the decay and I can imagine a former grandeur

  6. Looks like a wonderful find in this gorgeous country.

  7. Oh, I’d already seen this and didn’t make the connection. Very interesting. Reminds me again of La Bretagne.

  8. Now this really could be a wonderful conversion. After all I live in a former milking parlour!

  9. I’m guessing the farmer would have let you in if you’d been especially nice Sue LOL! A very interesting place, beautifully captured.

  10. It really was a brilliant find.

  11. Yes great find. We saw some recycled churches in Maastricht this June. One into a beautiful bookshop, another into a discotheque! Catch that happening here…they’d rather let it run to seed :/
