Light just a tad better today, played around a bit to allow a deeper depth of field, and this is what I came up with, but not there yet! I still want to lead the eye in, and not sure that’s happening yet.
But I might give up at this point, who knows?
Lovely capture, Sue. You always manage to find such beauty in decay. 🙂
Many thanks! I was thrilled to get these, because even past their best they have such depth of colour!
Sue, you and I share a reverence for the finale of a flower, which in the case of many dried ones is a point of rest. Your image is an apt example of how dried flowers can be stunning in this last stage. Enjoyed your composition and the contrasts of reds against the greens.
Many thanks, Sally! Glad you liked the colour palette
I much prefer this to the previous shot of that arrangement. But you knew that already. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.
I did!
Nice!
Thank you, Debi!
Lovely!
Glad you like it, Ann Christine!
Lovely! And very Caravaggio 🙂
Thank you, Su! Pleased you like it…still not sure I can’t do more, but we’ll see….
That’s the essence of creativity; always seeking more!
Absolutely!
Oh I like that Sue.
I’m not great at this type of shot and couldn’t think of a suggestion on your other shot, but this one is great – the warmth is definitely here
Thanks, Debs…a bit of playing around to get a bit of mood, a little bit of tension with the darkness…..it’s coming along!
I’d be satisfied with that but I suspect you are a perfectionist. It’s lovely. I did walk after all and the heather was blooming lovely xx
I am a bit of a perfectionist, I suppose! Glad you had your walk amidst the heather, Jo! Will we see it? 😀😀
Heavens! Maybe at some point, Sue. I have a couple lined up for the next week or 2. 🙂
😊😊 no pressure….
Never! 🙂 It’s raining today so no walking.
😟😥
Love the deep, rich colors, Sue, and the arrangement is, as usual, lovely.

Many rethinks, Janet
I like this, Sue, especially the colors. I wonder if you tilted the box a little bit if it would create the leading line you want to draw the eye in?
Thanks, Pat! Funny you should say that, my next thought was to tilt the box….we’ll see!
Wonderfully classical. The rich darks are just yummy!
The rich darks are indeed yummy!!
Very rich composition. Well Done!
Thanks, Robert!
Beautiful
Continue experimenting until you reach the mood or look you are looking for.
Thanks, Marcelo!
This is a beautiful still life. I really like the dark red tones up against the faded green of the box.
Thank you, Otto! The deep red is just beautiful, and I was pleased I had the tin box to add a bit to the composition
Those ruby tones of the flowers are so lovely; maybe angle the box a bit so its side edge lines up with the row of embroidery? Then the keyhole would not be dead ahead. But you are the mistress of still life and decay whereas I have no idea what I am talking about!
Well, I have more or less dismantled it now, but a couPle more images I may show….
And having looked at the previous version I much prefer the darker feel of this one and the sharper focus. I do like what you do with a few objects and some dying flowers.
Thank you, Jude! Much appreciated.
