A comment made by Ann Christine in one of her posts recently (about Kyrkö Mosse) rang a chord….. and led to the title of this post.
As anyone who regularly visits my blog will know, I have long had a fascination with abandoned places, as long as I can remember, in fact. Deserted places speak to my soul, and I do indeed feel them in my heart and my bones.
Here is a collage of a few that have ‘spoken’ to me….
Well that’s my glimpse into the past for today. A couple of these places are no longer visible, and others are crumbling fast….
sometimes it seems as though I can feel the emotions, memories, hopes, and dreams evaporate into forgetfulness as the building structure crumbles.
Yes, indeed
Wow, I would love to explore them myself! Thanks for sharing!Marcus
Glad you like them, Marcus!
Beautiful, Sue!
Thank you, Ann Christine! Glad you like it!
Beautiful.. I’ve been a few places, long abandoned, where I’ve felt quite overwhelmed by the mood of the place. I think buildings are repositories of so much human emotion it can’t help but seep out.
Yes, I know what you mean….Spinalonga, and to a lesser degree, Craco Vecchia had a very singular atmosphere….
🙂
fantastic shots – and you have definitely embedded your feelings into those images, Sue. Beautiful but sad. And it’s bedtime for me!
Thanks, Debs! It was bedtime soon after I posted…seeing your comment next morning !
You’ve done them proud.
Thanks, Fraggle!
I could mutter on about chaos and the dark side but I won’t spoil a beautiful moment, Sue. 🙂 🙂
Quite right to keep schtumm, Jo!
Beautiful darkness in your images here.
Thanks, Vivi!
