My photos from the last 40+ years
What an absolutely exquisite photo Sue. Just what I need on a slushy Sunday after a late light at the opera.
This was just such an amazing sight, the butterflies in th hot house…but I missed most shots because my lenses were steamed up, or the butterflies just darted about so quickly… At least I got one!
How was the opera?
It was one of those HD live things from the Met: “Romeo and Juliet”. My daughter came too, so that was extra nice. Magnificently sung and staged, and some fascinating glimpses behind the scenes, especially making costumes for “Rusalka”. I’d forgotten how long it takes people to die in opera
Oh, Meg, you do make me smile…opera deaths are nothing if not melodramatic! Glad you had a good time
Owl butterfly? Beautiful! Saw them in the rainforest – big as bats!
Well, I have to say I’m envious of you seeing them in the wild, A-C! And yes, these were huge!
But you got a better shot of one than I did…
Ah, OK! I took a few more of the butterflies at Wisley, but that was the best…all the others were too fast, or my lens was steamed up!
They were fast when I tried as well!
😀😀
My gaze is firmly drawn to the fake ‘eye’ on the wing, just as nature intended!
A tricky shot, Sue, and very well captured.
Best wishes, Pete.
Thanks, Pete!
So incredible…and extraordinary!
Beautiful, isn’t it?
Ah, the Wisley butterflies. Always a treat, have they stopped doing this for half-term then? It was always very popular and like you I never got any brilliant shots of them. I think my best butterflies were taken over in a place in California where the atmosphere wasn’t as steamy. Sarah always manages to get some amazing photos though.
I know, I will quiz her next time I see her!
Fantastic silence Sue.
The intricate detail is fascinating
Thanks! G lad you like it
Brilliantly composed – you and the butterfly.
Thank you, Tish!
It’s exquisite Sue, great shot!
Many thanks, Gilly!
Beautiful Sue!
Thank you!
Amazing detail!
More by luck than judgement- I kept having to clear the lens of moisture, as it was so hot in that building!
I have tried several times to capture good images of butterflies but have never come close to this image!
Many thanks, Lisa!
