I love photos of people at work: it seems to honour them. Her dress is a lovely bright patch in a scene of beige. There’s a woman who keeps pavements clean near my daughter’s apartment with a besom, but we greet each other, which somehow precludes photographing her.
It’s a very continental thing….we don’t do it in the UK!
What??? You don’t work?
The sweeping of your front doorstep….. 🙄But of course, there are always people that don’t work, anywhere….
I was just starting to get a somewaht guilty feeling, now I feel better. 😉 We don’t see it in Norway or in Germany either …
Oh, OK!
erm… I sweep my front step(s) does that count? Never had a house that opens directly on to the pavement, but I dare say I’d sweep that too if I had.
That certainly counts, Jude…looks like you are strides, not just steps, ahead of the rest of us!
blame my mother… I get attacks of guilt and have to wash the door frames down too! Not every week… 🙂
Well, I did too, but not regularly!
When I was young, every local lady used to clean the outside of their house. I never see it these days, so thanks for the memory!
Best wishes, Pete.
😀
My mother used to clean and polish her red tiles in the porch too – back in the ’60s and ’70s. I like the high key look of this image, makes her highly colourful dress really stand out.
The high key look wasn’t intentional…..in my hurry to grab the shot, I didn’t get the exposure correct!!!
You didn’t have to admit to that! But I respect your honesty. Still worked out well in the end.
😀😀
It is normally done in our coastal and smaller towns. This looks like the alley from the other day. You must miss the sunny weather.
Same region, different town…. I miss the warmth, but a few days ago we had beautiful sunny weather here, and again today…..
Wonderful!! Thanks, Sue.
😀
Wouldn’t it be good to see a bloke sweeping the doorstep?
Wouldn’t it just! 😀😀
