Black & White Sunday: Expression

Today, Paula has asked us to post an image of an expression. I have decided to post some images of very expressive sculptures from my visit to Wisley a while back.

I think this one illustrates an expression of freedom, a free spirit:

…and this one is perhaps an expression of wild abandon:

anyway, you can let me know what you think! Meanwhile, you can see more Expression here.

  1. Those sculptures certainly provided good subjects and inspiration too, Sue.
I like the way that the first one seems to be floating in the air.
    Best wishes, Pete.

  2. Great choice for teh theme – I love them. They look good in monochrome (helped by your great use of shallow depth of field!)

  3. So lovely and original. I really love them, and I have trouble picking a favourite. The first one is of a dreamer, free spirit like you said. Beautiful work capturing and editing.

  5. Fascinating and whimsical, Sue. What are the sculptures made of?

  6. Dear Sue, they are so beautiful, fascinated me. Thank you, have a nice day and new week, Love, nia

  7. I have always found that sculptures are very much expressive… you did great on those.

  8. Fantastic images, Sue. Art and creativity combined.

  9. I like them both, but the second is my favorite.

  10. Skilled work portraying such wind, movement of body and soul in a normally still piece of art. Great capture in pictutures!

  11. Expression through movement is a great way to see this challenge. The statues are wonderful, and your photos capture them perfectly.

  12. I love them both – though the second one is my favourite, what abandonment, sense of freedom, release – ready to throw oneself off a cliff on a stormy day… or jump into a new adventure.

They portray movement so well and you have created a piece of art yourself in the execution of these photos.

  13. Very expressive sculptures, Sue. Haven’t been to Wisley yet but it is on the list of places to visit. Had a memorable visit to Sheffield Park earlier this week – colours were stunning. Will get round to posting images later this week.

    • Sue

I was wondering how the colours were developing at Sheffield Park…..

      • They are at their peak I would think, Sue. Another beautiful day today – headed out to the Hollow Way at Halnaker near Chichester. Colours there were rather disappointing but then dropped in on Petworth House and Park – a blaze of yellow. Need to get there earlier in the day for another view.

  14. I like your thinking, Sue. 🙂 The first puts me in mind of my daughter, just a little.
