Morning

This morning, the sun was streaming through the blinds in my front room, so here’s a shot of my breakfast table once I had eaten!

  1. A nice arrangement indeed, Sue. The sun is still shining strong in Norfolk too.
    Best wishes, Pete.

  2. Light through the eggshell is wonderful. Another great still life. Reminds me of the Australian painter of still lifes, Margaret Olley. There is often a sense of presence just vanished in the arrangement, as there is here in this one.

    • Sue

I was pleased with the light on the eggshell. And I love your comment re: a sense of presence just vanished- I am constantly striving to steer away from ‘record’ photos, and create images that evoke emotion ….

  3. Nice photo and composition Susan

  4. I have an old egg poacher like that. Love your still life photograph.

    • Sue

I found myself with no egg-cups, so I use this lovely egg coddler as one! I’ve never actually used it for it’s true purpose!!

  5. What s beautiful shot Sue. I love the coddler as egg cup.
There is a real feel of peace and happiness.

  6. Gorgeous image, Sue. Looks like a very healthy breakfast. 🙂

  7. This makes me was to drag out my paints…still life!

  8. Pat

I love this, Sue. It made me smile big because I always think about taking a photo of a special meal after I have eaten it. You can tell my priorities. This is a perfect interpretation.

  9. A perfect still life evoking a time gone past. Love the light through the eggshell and the Japanese anemone. And reminding me that it is AGES since I had a boiled egg…

  10. Very civilised, with a hint of a smile. 🙂 I notice you ate all the soldiers 😦

  11. You do this so well, and it can’t be easy. I’d like to have a go and I know I must occasionally have interesting objects at hand but I never think to try a still life at the right time.

    • Sue

Thank you, Gilly….Jude made a similar comment on the other image I posted today…. I must confess to throwing this one together very quickly….taking a couple of shots, realising I didn’t have the angle and the point of view quite right, and taking more shots. Maybe practice is making me better…

    • Sue

Oh, and the main thing is recognising when the light is right….

  13. This photo has a such a sense of an old master – timeless and glowing. It could be now or a couple of hundred years ago (except maybe for the newspaper!)

    • Sue

Thank you, Anna! Apropos newspapers, The Observer has apparently been going since 1791, but obviously the typeface would have been different! So you have a perfectly valid point 😀😀

  14. What a beautiful way to start the day! Lovely image that makes me smile . I will be right over to join you. 🙂

  16. Excellent and atmospheric. Perfect for the challenge. The egg shell has painterly quality.

  17. A nice photographic example of a Still Life

  18. Emilio Pasquale

I’m not sure whether it’s the subject matter that is so pleasing, or the lighting. Either way, a very pleasant image!

  20. As with the madealine of Proust, I am sure that in some time, this picture will evoke powerful memories.

  21. A fleeting moment .A few minutes later the spot lighting changes.
Its wonderful to capture a fleeting moment in our busy lives.
Its helps us to slow down and enjoy whats in front of us.
This image instantly grabed my attention.
