I debated a black and white or colour version of this….in the end the monochrome won. A fast-reaction image, no time to set up position, angle etc, but it has worked as I hoped. A ‘decisive moment’, caught just in time as she soon disappeared at a fast clip around a cluttered corner. I love the old building, a perfect backdrop!
Also linked to Paula’s Black & White Sunday, as there are diagonal leading lines (and other diagonals) here!
Perfect. All the lines and the black and white.
Ta! 😀
Excellent!
I was pleased with this one!
The Tudor building suited B&W perfectly, Sue. Nice shot.
Best wishes, Pete.
Exactly! It just didn’t quite work in colour!
Great shot ! Alsace France or Germany ?
Denmark!
Super shot Sue!
Thanks, Adrian….I was pleased with this one 😀
Lovely Sue!
Thank you!
I have passed that house several times – excellent shot!
You know it? Glad you like the image!
It’s you, isn’t it!
What, the person with the bike? No!
Nono, the photo! You are always “right”, spot on!
Ah, you mean it is very ‘me’!! Nice of you to say I am always spot on…..
But you are! ♥
Hmm, you are too kind! And I’m my own critic!
Well, we should almost never be satisfied…should we?
Not if we want to improve!
😀
So impressive.
Thanks, Victoria – it was a gift of a shot, the woman turned up at exactly the right moment!
This is wonderful, and the scene is more interesting with a human figure with inclined bicycle. Very nice to see you back with us, Sue.
I am always looking for the human element in a scene!
Interesting, I try to avoid them as much as possible 😀
I always used to, but if you can get just one person, maybe three at most, you can get some good results! Lead the eye….
Yes! Humans are not necessarily bad so long as they behave themselves or are coordinated 😀
Or miraculously position themselves in the places you need them….😀
Or where you can easily clone them out 😀
That’s cheating! I did do it once, recently…
Oh, I did not know that. In that case I did some cheating in my time 😀
I jest. For the purists, it’s cheating. But if you have a vision of a particular image, it’s your art , so why not do it! 😀 That said, I try to keep my post processing to a minimum otherwise I would have no time for anything else!!
Oh, and it’s good to be back!

Well done Sue, I would have been too slow!
Oh, surely not, Gilly!
Yes, Sue, the B&W white works perfectly. Such a pleasing shot!
janet
Many thanks, Janet!
Excellent grab Sue – sometimes you have little time to react but it works out as if you’d spent days planning the shot! This was one of those times.
Absolutely!
Wonderful lines Sue! You have such a good eye.
Thank you, Sue!
I love this photo, and the whole concept. You are one of the reasons I’m beginning to people my photos.
Oh crikey, Meg….I can feel my head beginning to swell….
Looks really good in B&W, Sue – Timeless.
Thanks, Andy! I think her attire gives it away a bit, but I was aiming for timeless!
Beautiful shot! 🙂
Thank you!
Very quick on the draw Sue. Perfectly positioned
Yes, my reactions are still good!!
Great picture Sue – so dramatic in black and white!
Glad you like it, Meg 😀
Nice shot. The building is perfect.
Thanks, Draco! That building was lovely, I agree
Liking this one A LOT! 🙂
GREAT! Because it’s one of the best of my recent images!
I have taste, you know 🙂
Abso-lute-ly! I never doubted the fact 😀
How wonderful. I like the contrasting shapes and the strong diagonals.
Thanks, Suzanne!
I love this shot- everything about it- the B&W, the person with bicycle, the house- all of it!
Result, then! 😀😀
I love the backdrop too!! wonderful image!
It all worked together in an instant!
Coming from a ‘new’ city I was so fascinated by all the oldness of the buildings in Denmark, and also the brightness of all the oranges, yellows and red that I never once thought to turn any of my shots to black and white. But it works so perfectly here – and creates a wonderful mood. Perfect shot…
Many thanks, pleased you like it!
